Medhi Walerski Repertoire
Sarah started dancing at the Dublin Ballet School, then entered Dorothy Stevens School of Dance and later the Central School of Ballet in London.
After one year with Opéra Théâtre de Metz (France) and two years with Saarlandisches Staatstheater (Germany) she decided to move on to NDT 2 . She joined Nederlands Dans Theater in 2004. She has created and danced ballets by Jiri Kylian, Sol León and Paul Lightfoot, Crystal Pite, Johan Inger, Hans van Manen, Mats Ek, Medhi Walerski and many other guest choreographers with NDT. The company tours internationally to great acclaim with its diverse repertoire. In 2015 she worked with Clara van Gool for the first time on the dance film 'Voices of Finance'. Their second collaboration, the feature-length 'The Beast in the Jungle' (2019) premiered in Rotterdam at IFFR. She has left full-time dance with NDT as of this season and is pursuing her love for acting. She continues to set work, teach and dance in independent projects. |
Medhi Walerski
Medhi Walerski became Artistic Director of Ballet BC in July 2020.
Raised in France, he initially trained in Normandy with Laurie Bokobza and Christine Caroly before joining the Conservatoire Superieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. Walerski danced at the Paris Opera Ballet and the Ballet du Rhin before joining the Nederlands Dans Theater in 2001. For more than a decade at NDT, he was an integral part of the company, contributing to the creative, innovative style that NDT is famed for. He participated in the creation of numerous new works and danced in the company’s existing repertoire. He was awarded the most important Dutch dance prize, VSCD Zwaan in 2013 for the most impressive dance performance. He has worked closely alongside the creative forces of internationally established choreographers, creating and performing works by Jiří Kylián, William Forsythe, Mats Ek, Ohad Naharin, George Balanchine, Rudolf Nureyev, Paul Lightfoot and Sol Leon, Hans Van Manen, Crystal Pite, Emio Greco, Angelin Preljocaj, Jacopo Godani, Maurice Béjart, Johan Inger, Wayne Mc Gregor. Walerski’s professional choreographic debut was in 2008 for NDT 2, he has since then developed a close relation with NDT and Ballet BC for which he has created several works as well as Bern Ballet, Goteborg Ballet, the Ballet State of Georgia, StaatBallet Hannover, Staattheater Wiesbaden and Charlotte ballet. As an educator, he is regularly invited to lecture and give workshops at Dance Conservatories and Dance Festivals in the Netherlands, The United States, China and Italy. |
